Soft Topography No. 01: Faux Suede Pillow

Soft Topography No. 01 turns broad, overlapping forms into a quiet all-over surface. Warm ivory, oat, mushroom, and stone tones give the pattern depth without making it feel busy, allowing it to sit naturally with linen, wood, plaster, and other neutral materials.

The artwork is printed on both sides of a soft faux-suede cover so the composition continues across the whole pillow. Its tonal modelling creates the visual impression of relief; the surface itself is printed and is not quilted, tufted, or physically embossed.

The Story Behind Soft Topography

This pattern began with a question: how do thousands of small living elements become one protective body?

The reference comes from cushion-forming moss. It is not about reproducing the plant's literal appearance or green colour. Instead, it draws on the way countless small shoots gather into rounded hummocks, retain moisture, and create a sheltered microclimate.

I translated this natural growth logic through an architectural lens: aggregation, density, enclosure, and continuity. Individual forms press into one another until they become a single quiet field. The result is a soft topography that feels calm from across the room and subtly alive at close range.

The pattern was chosen for a pillow because its underlying idea is already connected to comfort: many small elements coming together to create protection, softness, and rest.

Care

Remove the cover and pre-treat stains with a soft cloth or soft-bristle brush and warm soapy water. Machine wash at up to 40°C / 104°F on a normal cycle. Do not bleach or dry-clean. Tumble dry low; iron, steam, or dry on low heat only. Fluff after reassembly.

Colour can vary slightly between screens and the finished dye-sublimation print. Because this item is made to order, small placement and seam variations may occur.
